Golf on the Silver Coast
A championship course where pine-fringed parkland gives way to true seaside links along the Atlantic, near Óbidos, about 30 minutes' drive from Casa Bica Vista.
The course
Designed by the American golf architect Cabell B. Robinson and opened in June 1997, Praia D'El Rey is one of Portugal's best-known courses outside the Algarve. It has hosted the Open de Portugal.
The round has two characters. The front nine winds through sheltered parkland and pine trees. After the turn, the back nine opens into seaside links, with four holes running right along the seafront. Wind off the Atlantic, rolling dunes and 87 bunkers make it a memorable test for every level of golfer.
